With the introduction of beadwork to Native American craftsmen by traders circa 1850, their exquisite but labor-intensive quillwork ceased. Thus, these old beauties are lucky survivors, their campfire dancing days long past, but represent traditions of a people who desired to always “walk in beauty.”
